How to care for handmade ceramics
My stoneware mugs, bowls, and other kitchenware and table ware are all over, dishwasher and microwave safe. However, like any ceramic material they are breakable and you should avoid "shocking" them by changing the temperature too quickly. Don't pour boiling water into a mug that's been in the refrigerator (though room temperature is perfectly safe!). For ovenware, similarly allow for transition time if moving from the oven to the refrigerator or vice versa.
Raku vessels however are primarily for decorative purposes, as the Raku process does not bring clay to a high enough temperature to become watertight. If you are using a raku vase to hold flowers with water, ensure that you have a drip plate underneath and be advised that such use may cause the
